Evans Current Events—March 2015

Grace came home from school not feeling well on March 2nd.  She laid down on the couch and sweet Isaac plopped down in front of her and started reading her a story.  He chose Dr. Seuss of course because it was Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

In honor of Dr. Suess Isaac drank pink ink like a yink.  Grace didn’t feel well enough.

By that evening both Grace and Isaac weren’t feeling very well.  It made for a very quiet FHE that night.

Emma wasn’t too upset about that and loved that she could give her lesson to a quiet and captive audience.

I made Thai peanut noodles one night and we ate them with our chopsticks from Japan.

We went to our ward talent show.  Emma and her friends acted out a Studio C sketch again.  This time they did the peanut butter and jelly skit and Lee even made a cameo appearance in the video.  It was cute but I don’t have the video on my computer.  Grace chose to paint a canvas to display.

She loved it!

Isaac displayed a Lego scene as usual.

The talent show was also a carnival.  The youth ran the games,

and the kids had a blast playing the games to earn tickets for some pretty cool prizes.  They went home with quit the loot that night.

The next morning we had smiley face pancakes.  Lucky kids.

We took advantage of the nice weather in March and played outside a lot.  The park with friends is always more fun!

We had some good Family Home Evenings in March.  They weren’t all as quiet as the one earlier in the month, but we had some good discussions and made good memories.  Isaac was very excited to teach us from Elder Scott’s conference talk.  He pulled out some real tools to teach us about the tools we have been given to strengthen our faith.

Grace taught us from Elder Ballard’s talk to stay on the boat and hold on!

Isaac and Grace keep me laughing.  On this particular walk to school, Isaac was congratulating Grace on a “really good burp”.  Oh goodness.

Later that same day they were being super silly in Big 5.  I was so relieved that the store was practically empty.

I passed Emma’s room one morning after she had already left for seminary.  I was struck with feelings of thankfulness for my Emma Mae.  She is such a good girl.  She is busy and is often tired, but she still works so hard at everything she does and never complains about getting up early in the morning for seminary.  And, she makes her bed!  I think we will keep her.

We hit Dairy Queen for free cones for their birthday celebration (along with the rest of Canby…).  Yum!

We sent pictures to Lee letting him know we missed him.  Poor Lee, this is what we got back:

Alyssa and I spent an afternoon making paper boats for the Relief Society birthday dinner.  They turned out cute and we had fun.

I made a bridal shower gift for a friend who met her husband-to-be in Texas.   I was sweating when I painted those swirlies!

Sometimes I wonder where our children come from.  They definitely take after Lee’s side of the family…

Spring Break

We didn’t have any major plans for Spring Break, which was kind of nice.  We stayed home and played with friends.   We started the week by doing some prep at the Newgren’s barn for a wedding that Brenna and I were decorating for at the end of the month.  We needed Lee and Peter to do some electrical set-up super high.  It made me kind of sick to see them up on that ladder, it was very high up there!

The kids were happy to play.  Bro. Newgren got Isaac all geared up for some heavy work.

But he ended up just playing.

The Newgren’s property is a perfect place for kids.

Isaac and Grace both had friends over that afternoon.  Isaac played a lot of Uno that day!

The next day Grace had a late over with several friends.

Spring Break 2015 (10)

They ate pizza for dinner,

painted their nails,

watched a movie,

and of course crafted.  Cute girls, they were fun to have over.

Isaac was at a late over that night too.  They did “boy things”.

Spring Break 2015 (15)

One morning I asked Isaac and Grace to wake Emma up.  Instead, they joined her in bed!

Spring Break 2015 (16)

The weather that week was pretty nice, so there was lots of playing outside.

Grace all of a sudden had an obsession with climbing trees.  She spent a lot of time in a tree in our backyard.

Spring Break 2015 (21)

She convinced Isaac to come up with her a few times, he didn’t like it as much as she did.

Spring Break 2015 (19)Spring Break 2015 (20)

They also spent time cleaning up tree branches we cut down.  Fun, fun!

Emma was busy all week taking a lifeguard class.  She has been planning on taking this class during the spring break she was 15 for many years.  It was hard to believe it was here and she was getting ready to apply for her first job.  That along with getting her permit that week made me realize how old she is getting.  Sniff.

She passed the course easily.  She is now a lifeguard!

I was at the park one day and came home to this scene: Emma indexing on the laptop,

Lauryn working on a talk,

and Kaitlyn indexing on the computer.  Love these girls!

We had more play dates.

The Hansen’s and the Yates’ were at the Gibb’s house, so we spent some time with them.  Isaac and Grace love playing over there!

Emma and I ended the week by going to the General Women’s Meeting with my mom and sister.  It was a great meeting and I sure love these ladies!
