Alsea Falls

May 4, 2016

The way Lee’s clinical and work schedules worked out, he ended up with a random weekday off.  He was nice enough to spend it driving down to Camp Alpine with me to take some measurements and do some planning for YW Camp.  Everytime we go to Camp Alpine I see signs pointing to Alsea Falls.  We learned it was only a few miles past Camp Alpine so we decided to go check it out when we were done with what we needed to do at camp.  It was a beautiful little spot, even in rainy drizzle.

Scripture Read-A-Thon

May 2, 2016

Emma was behind in her Old Testament reading for Seminary so we decided to have a family scripture read-a-thon to help her out.

It ended up being quite fun!  Grace had chosen a yummy treat for FHE refreshments so we ate that as we each read our own scriptures.

The weather was beautiful and perfect for being outside.

And we were together as a family.

Of course we had to take a few breaks here and there, and Isaac and Grace provided the entertainment.

Emma eventually got caught up and finished her reading.  Wahoo!

Current Evans Events—April 2016

I remember now why Lee missed our April Fool’s Day dinner.  He was at a trek plannign meeting.  Trek planning was well underway by April.  It was a bummer that we weren’t going to be able to go this year due to Lee’s school schedule, but Lee was still in on the planning.

We had some amazing weather in April.  Which meant we fired up the grill and made some yummy dinners.

And we also ate outside quite often.

Tenley had a birthday and I made her a cake.

There was a lot of reading going on in April.  On the way to school,

Isaac finished all the Magic Tree House books.  That’s a lot of books!  He loved them.

We celebrated Beverly Cleary’s birthday at the library.

Gracie was a little cold while practicing the piano one day.  She fixed that.

Isaac and Grace had a session of swimming lessons.

I must admit, I look forward to the half hour of book reading time while they are swimming!

While we were in Arizona (with the Leptich’s) we found out that we would be getting a new stake president which was a lot earlier than expected.  Lee and I both knew that Matt would be the new stake president.  We were right.  We have an amazing and wonderful stake presidency and Lee loves having the privilege to work with them.

I love having the kids friends at our house.  Double play dates are even more fun.

Emma had a fun weekend in Sisters with the YW.

Isaac and Grace have been asking for a desk.  I was driving past the Hawkins’ house one day and they had one in front of their house with a free sign on it.  It was perfect!

We worked together to get it cleaned up and painted.

It turned out cute and the twins were thrilled with the little office spot in their room.

Isaac was in serious need of a haircut.  Look at that hair!  He looks so much like Lee with hair like that.

I’m glad Lee cuts it because I won’t touch it…

Lee finished his first round of clinicals for his masters program.  He really enjoyed working with Dr. Stills at the VA.  He learned a lot from him.

We had a book review activity for Relief Society in April.  Isaac and Grace were the special visitors who gave reviews on books they have read recently.  Grace talked about Ivy and Bean.

Isaac talked about the Secrets of Droon books.  They both did a great job and I was proud of them.

We watched the Hingson kids one night while their parents went to the temple.

Emma was still going to physical therapy.  She didn’t mind.  She loves the therapists and aids at this office.  It was fun for her to be there!

Lee went to Spokane for another school immersion weekend.  He was nervous about this one, he had a big test that he had to do well on.  We sent him our good luck the morning of the test.

He had given the kids tasks do perform in the yard while he was gone.  We sent him pictures so he would know they were doing the work.

Peter sent me this picture.  Looks like Lee wasn’t working too hard and was enjoying his weekend.  ;)  Actually, he had worked hard and done well on his tests so he deserved a little relaxation at the movie theater.  I’m glad he has Peter to have fun with.

Finally, I was doing some YW Camp activity tests.  Lee took this less than flattering picture of me, but the bow and arrow was fun to play with!
