April 24-30, 2017

This week was a busy one filled with normal stuff like YW Camp meetings, visiting teaching, piano lessons, swimming lessons, etc.

Wednesday night was the school academic spring showcase.  Isaac and Grace liked the science experiments

Emma left these math notes at home so I sent a picture to her.  Looking at this made my stomach turn.  Glad I don’t have to do that anymore!

Speaking of turning the stomach…the YW and YM had a Fear Factor night.

They did and ate some super disgusting things, as evidenced by Emma’s face in this picture.

Some of the kids, not Emma, even ate a delicacy in the Philippines called balut.  It’s a developing bird embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell.  So gross.  I am so impressed that those kids actually ate it. Emma said there was no way she would ever even consider it. 

Emma was telling me one day that she wanted a pair of hightop Vans.  A few days later I found a pair on clearance for Isaac that were super, super cheap.  I had to send a picture to Emma of Isaac’s new shoes.  She wasn’t too happy.  ;)

On Thursday night I went to a card class at Marge’s house.  I love making those cards!  Friday was full with a wedding luncheon for Mikayla Rollins and her new husband and that night Ellie Leder’s wedding reception.  It’s the beginning of the wedding season for sure!  Saturday was a super busy day.  But it started out like this:

At least for the kids.  Lee started the day on the roof unclogging gutters.  I don’t like it when he is on the roof, it makes me very nervous.

Emma’s third round of prom, this time for Canby, was today.  So we spent the morning doing some last minute preparations, picking up the boutonniere and getting her hair done at Danielle’s again.  Then I took her out to Molalla to her friend's house where they were going to finish getting ready.  The night before Isaac hadn’t slept well.  As the day went on I started to suspect he might have an ear infection.  So inbetween the craziness I took him to the doctor.

He was still well enough to laugh hysterically at a picture in a magazine.

It was pretty funny.

Sure enough, he had an ear infection.  We hurried off to get his prescription filled and then we headed to the Isom’s for MiKayla’s wedding reception.  The Isom’s sure know how to throw a party.  The reception was beautiful, the company great, and the dinner was amazaing.  We were sad that we had to jet out of there a little earlier than we would have liked, but we needed to get back to Molalla for prom pictures and to see the kids off.  Emma looked beautiful…again!   Her date Jarod was handsome and very polite and attentive.

Kennedy has been Emma’s swim “mom” and good friend.

After a lot of pictures they were off!  Have fun!

The rest of us were pretty pooped after that.  Since we had to leave the Isom’s before dessert was served we headed to Mike’s Drive-In instead.  We deserved that ice cream!

Isaac didn’t last long in bed that night.  He slept much better, thank goodness for modern medicine!

Sunday was much more relaxing.  We went on a walk and Grace collected a flower arrangement.  The end of another busy week!

April 17-23, 2017

For Family Home Evening on Monday night we did our General Conference review game.  I put up all the new pictures.  Such good stuff, can’t wait to study it and learn more.

On Tuesday night we got to see our friend Barbara Reynolds.  She was in town so the Price’s threw a little party for her.  It was so fun to see her!  She couldn’t believe how much the twins had grown.  Emma had a camp meeting that night.

On Monday the twins got to start 2nd grade swimming lessons.  This is a much anticipated perk of being in the 2nd grade.  I went to watch them most days.  These pictures were from Wednesdays lesson.

On Thursday they were working on their dives.

Grace came home from school on Thursday not feeling great.  Isaac tried to cheer her up by doing magic tricks for her.  He’s a good brother.

For Lee’s birthday last month Peter gave him a countdown to the end of school chain.  For some reason I took a picture of it that day, it was already getting short!

That night was the Pinewood Derby.  I thought Isaac would burst from excitement.  He had been waiting for this day for a very long time.  His car looked good and he was ready to go!

He loved every minute of it.

I’m not sure how he got so unlucky to race his very first race against the car that would eventually win the whole thing. 

He lost that race and then he lost the next race.  He had the best attitude about it though, he was just having fun.

He was thrilled to get some awards.

After the official racing was done he won several races.  That made him feel much better about his car and he ended on an even higher note. 

Our fence on all sides is in needs of some serious repairs.  Actually, we just need a new fence.  The lady who lives behind us decided to replace her fence.  She wanted to do it how she wanted to so she said we didn’t need to help with labor or money.  The color she picked isn’t what we would have chosen, but it’s ok because you can hardly see that fence from our yard.  It was weird to look out one day and see people back there and gaps looking into her yard.  No complaints, we didn’t have to be involved in any way!  One side down…

The twins and I took advantage of a beautiful afternoon to see the tulips. We couldn’t manage to go as a family this year, but the twins and I had a great time together.  I hoped that if we left right after school the crowds wouldn’t be too bad.  That was wishful thinking.  The weather was too gorgeous to keep people away.  The flowers were beautiful and snow capped Mt. Hood was majestic in the background. 

Our friend Miranda was there making balloon sculptures.  Isaac and Grace got some good ones. 

Saturday was piano recital day.  Each of the kids played a solo and Isaa and Grace each played a duet with Emma.  I love the duets!

Gracie’s good friend Emma now takes lessons from Sister Anderson. It was fun to listen to her play too.

Even though Sister Anderson provided yummy cookies for after the recital, we stopped by Dairy Queen for some ice cream too.

We relaxed the rest of the day.  Lee and Isaac played sword fight with their balloon swords.

And we admired the Borax crystal geodes that Isaac and Grace made.

On Sunday the Laurels got to help in a very big and very active class of Primary kids. Cute kids and beautiful young women.
