For the last hurrah of summer, we hiked to Abiqua Falls. It was gorgeous and so fun! The setting is very unique which makes it super cool. The hike was steep, but not too difficult. Thankfully there were ropes to help us on the most difficult parts.
While we were at Abiqua I had everyone pick a rock to bring home. They were perfect for our school year theme of Build Upon the Rock. We had our back to school dinner and introduced the theme that night.
We focused on Helaman 5:12 and how we can build upon the rock of our Redeemer and how that will help us in the coming year.
Dad gave Isaac and Grace beautiful father's blessings for the new year.
We ate dessert while watching a movie. It was such a great day, but we really missed Emma.
Tuesday was the first day of school! Isaac and Grace requested donuts for breakfast.
It's hard to believe these two are 4th graders!
They were excited, but also a little nervous since this was the first year they were in different classes. Isaac had Mrs. Cantrell and Grace had Mrs. Hart. It was going to be a good year!
Far away in Provo, Emma had her first day of her freshman year at BYU. That is even crazier!
We got lots of texts and phone calls that day, but she did great and had a good day.
Happy first day of school to me! We got a new fridge!
This old faithful has been running strong since we moved to Canby 15 years ago. It is still running but the shelves and drawers are all breaking. It was time to move it out to the food storage room. I was super excited to now have tow refrigerators.
So pretty!
After school we had a cookies and milk party at the park. It was fun to hear about the day and to share cookies with friends. That night Lee and I went to a bishops and wives meeting with the stake presidency.
And they went back to school the next day! The routine had begun.
Grace won't wear all these hair pretties anymore, so we passed them on to the Hawkins'. It was kind of sad! I made almost all of them, and it was something I enjoyed. I also have specific memories with almost all of them and outfits Grace would wear with them, Emma too.
Wednesday night was the first soccer practice of the season. We were excited about the coaches!
Isaac went to Tyce's birthday party after school on Thursday, and Grace went to Seoul's house.
Emma ran into Sister Powers at BYU on Friday. We had the Hawkins' over for dinner that night so we could say goodbye to Djeryd before he left on his mission.
Saturday was Emma's first BYU football game!! So fun!
On Saturday we also moved Grace into Emma's room. It was exciting for both Isaac and Grace to have their own room, but it was a little sad for me. I have loved the relationship that Isaac and Grace have formed by sharing a room. It was time to make the change though.
Grace couldn't have been happier about it!
But how on earth did having her own room turn her into a teenager??!! She looks so much older and more mature!
Love this girl.
I didn't need to fear about Isaac and Grace and their relationship. This was the sign they made on Sunday. I love the misspelling!
I also love family games on Sunday!
