This current event acutally happened at the end of January, but for some reason ended up in my February pictures. It’s a picture of bologna to remind me of a funny story. Elder Hansen of the Seventy was the visiting authority for our Stake Conference in January. He was counseling with our Stake President a few weeks before and he told him to be sure that the meal between the priesthood session and the adult session on Saturday night was simple. He said that he was waiting for the stake that would finally feed him just a bologna sandwich. Pres. Brady being the funny guy he is, decided it would be great to do just that. Pres. Brady ended up talking to Elder Hansen’s brother in the temple one day and he asked him if Elder Hansen would think that was funny. His brother assured him he would love it and advised him to add some Doritos and a Snickers bar as well. Since Lee is the executive secretary and the details of Stake Conference fall on him, it became his job to make Elder Hansen a bologna sandwich. Well, you know how that goes, that job then fell on me. So I made him a bologna sandwich and put it with some Doritos and a Snickers bar in a brown paper lunch bag with his name on it and a napkin note inside. Lee and I were both invited to the dinner with Elder Hansen, and I can tell you I felt so silly taking that paper bag into the church. As soon as I could I gave it to Lee who put it in the High Council room for Elder Hansen. Elder Hansen walked in, saw the bag, and just about died. He was so excited! A delicious pulled pork dinner was also waiting for him, but he didn’t eat that. Instead he dug into his bologna sandwich and Doritos and exclaimed it was the best bologna sandwich he had had in a long time. The next day in the general session of Stake Conference his wife told me that on the way home the night before he again talked about how delicious that sandwich was and how much he loved it. I’m sure it was just the Tillamook cheese that made it so good, but now I have the honor of saying that I fed a bologna sandwich to a member of the Seventy. Hee, hee! I don’t think I have ever bought bologna before, and the rest of that bologna went unused in the fridge before I finally threw it away. The stuff grosses me out!
Some friends in our ward own a carpet cleaning business. They cleaned the carpet in our entire house in exchange for some simple and easy after school babysitting. Their son is a friend of Isaac’s and it was really no trouble at all. I’m pretty sure I got the better end of that deal! It was so nice to have clean carpets, I love those lines!
Grace took another art class and loved it again. She came home with some fun projects.
Lee and I had another Porltand date night. This time we tried Tilt. The burgers were so darn good, and the fries were just the way I like them. We will definitely be going there again, but next time we will save room for dessert. Yum!
I had a little scare with some funny heart symptoms. I ended up having to wear a heart monitor for a weekend. It was such a pain, I couldn’t take a shower for a couple days, and it was all for nothing. Thankfully there was nothing wrong. Maybe just some stress…
As always I love scenes like this:
Emma is a sucker a good sunrise or sunset. I love it when I get texts from her on the way to seminary telling me to go look outside, or even better, picture texts of what she is seeing.
But what I like best of all is when we get to experience them together. We were coming home one night from a camp meeting when we saw a beautiful sunset. She was driving but she was instructing me on what and when to take the pictures. Of course they never come out as pretty as it is in real life, but the memory is good to remember.
I don’t remember where we were coming from this night, but we were in awe with the sunset. So beautiful! Emma took a million pictures.
Love this cute girl of mine!
The weekend that Lee was at Gonzaga I found myself alone on a Friday night. Emma was taking pictures at a game and the twins were on a date with La La. I had plenty of things that needed to be done, but I completely set aside my to-do list and indulged a bit. I got myself a blizzard and sat down with my book. It was the best hour ever!
Oh look, another ice cream picture! The twins and I spent a holiday from school up in Vancouver with the Jensen’s. We celebrated Alyssa’s birthday by getting lunch at Costa Vida and dessert at Sheridan’s. It was so yummy! The kids were playing so happily they didn’t even know we were treating ourselves. I had to take this picture to send to Lee. He has fallen in love with Sheridan’s. Good thing we don’t live close to one…
It was so fun to see these two together again. They are good buds.
I help at the school every Thursday morning. My main job is to work with Isaac’s reading challenge group. These kids are a bunch of smarties and I love reading and discussing with them.
Isaac was looking super old to me on this day. Sigh.
Lee and I went to a fun ward adult party. This is a blurry picture but it showed the fun we were having playing Don’t Eat Pete. :)
Isaac still loves to index. I’ve been impressed with what he can do on his own.
I spent a day with my Grandma Dorothy and she made me lunch. She gave me a sandwich with a thick slice of tomato. I had to sneak a picture to send to Lee because I know how much he loves my Grandma’s thick slices of tomatoes! He doesn’t really like them at all. In fact he hates them. When we first got married Grandma made him two BLTs with the thickest tomatoes ever. He had to force them down and then he came down with a stomach bug that night which made it all even worse. He about died when I sent him this picture!
We had some beautiful spring weather in February. We were all excited see buds and blooms on the trees.
It’s nice to start moving activities outside.
I caught Isaac and Grace coloring like this one day. Times like this remind they are twins and are so connected.
On the last day of February Lee and I started a mini Whole 30. We decided to call it Whole 18. We couldn’t do a full 30 days because we would be leaving for Arizona for spring break before the 30 days were up and we knew we wouldn’t be able to keep it up through our vacation. Lee wasn’t home from work yet when we had our first Whole 30 meal so I sent him a picture. It was yummy and not unlike a normal meal for us, except for the caulirice which was new and pretty good. The kids didn’t complain and ate it all. Good start for a hard 18 days! :)
