June 19-25, 2017

Isaac and Grace pretended to be asleep in Grace’s bed on Monday morning when I went to wake them up, but I knew they had been awake for a while talking and scheming.

I love scenes like this!

I walked the kids to school that morning.  When I got home I was washing my hands and scratched myself with my ring.  I looked down and realized my diamond was gone!  My heart sank.  I looked all around the house, but knew it could be anywhere.

I didn’t have any luck finding it before I had to leave again.  I just hoped it would turn up!  I walked back to the school to go on a field trip with Isaac and Grace.  On the way to school there is a bush that attracts beautiful moths.  There are usually several on the bush at the same time.

The 2nd grade went on a walking field trip.  First we walked from the school to the fire station where the kids got a tour.

They were especially excited to see the fire truck hose in action.  It was a super hot day so we didn’t mind the spray either!

From there we walked to the library, and then on to Wait Park for lunch.

It was a fun, but very hot, day.  The twins cooled off with the sprinkler under the trampoline when we got home.

We had Lee’s traditional Father’s Day breakfast danishs for FHE dessert that night.  We missed eating them with him the day before.

And for some reason Lee let Grace draw on his foot that night!

Monday is the day I do all the laundry.  We have been limping our dryer along almost since we bought it, we have had nothing but trouble from it.  Todays laundry made me realize that the dryer was probably about ready to be retired.  It completely ruined a pillowcase.  I was glad it wasn’t a favorite shirt!  We were able to do a temporary fix, but it wasn’t going to last for long.

Thankfully the night ended on a good note.  When Lee finally got a chance late that evening, he opened the drain to the sink I was washing my hands in when I realized my diamond was missing.  He went all through the gross gunk in that drain.  It was disgusting.  Unfortunately he didn’t find the diamond.  He found some money, earrings, and a few other random things, but no diamond.  He went downstairs to put his tools away and he just happened to glance under my desk.  Something shiny was down there so he took a look, and it was my diamond!!  So glad we found it, even if it had to happen after he did the work!
The next day I helped at field day.  I got to help run the softball station.  Not my favorite station ever, I hate dusty baseball fields, but it was fun to see the kids have a good time.

The next day was FINALLY the last day of school.  June 21st is late even for Oregon standards.  Those snow days earlier in the year killed us at the end of the school year. I surprised the kids with the s’mores cereal I had bought a few weeks before.  It made for a good breakfast!

The one sad thing was that it was the last day for the twins in Mrs. Johnson’s class.  She is THE best teacher ever and we were going to miss her.  I am so glad that all three of our kids got to have her.  She is amazing and taught our kids so much and so well.

The twins came home to find water balloons and more bubbles.

They were literally jumping for joy that they were finally out of school.

Emma came home after going out with friends after school.  She was so relieved to be done as well!

I took the twins for our traditional last day of school Slurpees while Emma took a much needed nap on the trampoline.

The twins and I had just finished reading The Secret Garden so we all watched the movie that night to celebrate the end of school.

The excitement of the day must have tuckered Grace out, this is how I found her that night.  I thought the title of her book was appropriate!

The next morning was a little lazy and started with some fun crazy cuddles (with a little camp prep visible on the side).

That evening was the Rocket Derby pack meeting.  Isaac was beyond excited about that.

It was pretty fun to watch those rockets launch and see the boys excitedly run after them.  Siblings got to launch as well, Grace had made a rocket just for the occasion.

Summer was off to a good start! The next day we had to do some shopping or something.  We had Chipotle coupons so we stopped their for lunch.

When we got home Emma went back to sleep while Isaac and Grace played outside in swimsuits.  Such is the summer life!

We also walked to the pool for their first day of summer Penguin Club.

I got some more camp prep work done.  Love the cupcake lanyard bling!

Grace and I went to the dance recital that night.  We enjoyed watching her friends dance.

We also enjoyed ice cream afterwards!

We did yard work Saturday morning, including some lawn mowing for Isaac, before we played the rest of the day.

We went up to Vancouver to spend the day with the Jensen’s.  It’s always a party at their house!

We ended the day at Sheridan’s for ice cream.  Isaac and Ryan hardly paused in their paper airplane folding to eat the ice cream.  It was a fun day and it was nice to spend some time with our friends who we miss.
