August 7-13, 2017

Monday was a day to celebrate.  Lee was officially done with all his clinical hours which meant he had a day off.  It was hard to believe he was so close to being done with school!  We decided to go on a bike ride at Champoeg.  That meant we had to figure out how to get all the bikes on the car.  We really need a bike carrier!

We rode to the Butteville Store and got ice cream.

That ice cream was a welcome treat because we were hot!

The best part was when Isaac very innocently asked if it was pronounced “Buttville”.  It has become a family joke since.

It was a beautiful ride and fun to be together, even with the whining because of the heat.

The next day Grace and I went with Isaac and his Cub Scout troop to the zoo.

This was the first time we saw the new elephant habitat.  It was pretty cool.

We were there during feeding time and those elephants put on quite a show for us in the water.  It was awesome and so fun to watch!

We had to take a picture of the naked mole rats for Kristin and David.  They are so ugly they are cute.

It was a fun day with the kids, but I’m always secretly glad when trips to the zoo are over.  ;)  That night I finally finished the budget reconciliation for YW Camp.  It is a big job and I am always glad when that is done too!

Wednesday was Cub Scout day camp for Isaac at the Doman’s property.  He loved every minute of it!  He was especially excited that they made pizza in solar ovens.

While Isaac was gone Grace and I went shopping.

That night we went to see Newsies on Broadway at the movie theater.  We all LOVED it, once it started that is.  The show didn’t actually start until after the longest string of previews ever.  Actually, they weren’t previews, but interviews, information, and quizzes about Newsies.  Unfortunately, they got really boring and went on forever.  Isaac was in tears by the time the show actually started.  There was a huge round of applause at that point.  Seriously, it was crazy.  But the show was so good and brought back lots of memories for me and Emma.  We were proud that the twins knew every word of the songs.

I completely missed the Facebook post about the Mary Poppins cast going to see Newsies at the same time.  Grace was happy to be in the big group picture.  Funny that we were there at the same time.

Bright and early Thursday morning I took Emma to get her wisdom teeth removed.  She was oh so happy about that!  Here’s the before:

and after:

She was pretty out of it and said some funny things.  She went back and forth from being confused, to angry.  It was fun to watch.

She got to take it easy on the couch the rest of the day.

I gave away all our baby hangers that afternoon to a friend who was about to have her first baby.  It made me kind of sad.  Isaac and Grace’s clothes no longer fit on those hangers!

That afternoon was the Penguin Club swim meet.  It was fun to see how much Isaac and Grace had improved over the summer.  They competed against each other in two races.  Isaac was faster at the butterfly, but Grace smoked him in the backstroke.  Isaac won his heat in the breaststroke, Grace did well in the freestyle.

They tried to get Coach Wiley in the water, but that plan backfired on them.

They liked swimming with the Delzer’s.

And they were really proud of all the ribbons they earned.  I really like Penguin Club!

Our trampoline was the place to be that night.  I love it when the neighborhood kids at our house.  Well most of the time, it depends on the kids.   ;)

We had one last visit from Tyler before he left on his mission.  He became Elder Ty Ty to us from here on out.

What a huge accomplishment!  Of course, they still had to take the licensing test, but the classes were over. The kids made Lee a poster that he came home to that night.  We would do more celebrating later.

Emma ended up being pretty lucky in the chipmunk cheek department.  She didn’t swell very much at all!

She was feeling well enough to go to Tyler’s open house on Saturday night.  She was still a little sensitive though.

She and Ashley looked cute in their matching shirts.

We went to hear Tyler speak in his ward on Sunday morning.  He did a great job and Grace looked so cute in the dress that Kristin wore for our wedding.

That night we were honored to be at Elder Leptich’s setting apart as a missionary.  It was a very cool experience.  We sure love Elder Ty Ty and we are excited to hear his experiences as a missionary.
