Champoeg Park Bike Ride
August 8, 2016
A Champoeg Park bike ride was on our list of summer activities this year. We made it happen on a Monday night for FHE. Lee met us there after work, so I had to squish all the bikes in the back of the van. It was tight. Isaac has completely outgrown his bike so it was probably the last time we can do that, we really need a bike carrier!
For some reason nobody but me was very excited about this bike ride. It was a little chilly while we ate our picnic dinner and that didn’t help things. Once Isaac and Grace saw where we were and remembered the bike ride last year they perked up and were riding all over before we started.
Once we got going and warmed up everybody was having fun.
We made a few stops for pictures.
Since we were heading towards Butteville there were a few jokes thrown in to our ride about how it feels on your backside to ride a bike…
It’s about 4 miles to the Butteville Store from where we started. I started to hear some grumbling and complaining so we stopped about 1/2 mile from the store and went back.
It was such a beautiful evening!
After we packed up the bikes we went to explore by the river. We found a patch of blackberry bushes with HUGE blackberries.
Emma played around with my camera.
There weren’t any grumblings by the time we left. But who could grumble while watching this sunset? It turned out to be a good FHE after all.

Scripture Read-A-Thon
May 2, 2016
Emma was behind in her Old Testament reading for Seminary so we decided to have a family scripture read-a-thon to help her out.
It ended up being quite fun! Grace had chosen a yummy treat for FHE refreshments so we ate that as we each read our own scriptures.
The weather was beautiful and perfect for being outside.
And we were together as a family.
Of course we had to take a few breaks here and there, and Isaac and Grace provided the entertainment.
Emma eventually got caught up and finished her reading. Wahoo!

Lights at Aspen Meadows
December 21, 2015
A friend told me about a light display that we might like at a church in Molalla, so we decided to check it out for Family Home Evening. She was right, it was great!
There were several areas that you could walk through. They had an awesome Christmas village, there were religous areas as well as non-religious areas.
The Stars Wars room was a hit with the kids.
There were several warming spots, which was good because it was cold!
There was even free hot chocolate and cookies.
Best of all we were reminded of the light of the world, our Savior Jesus Christ.
How wonderful to celebrate that light as a family.
