This week started with my 41st birthday. 41?! Crazy. Lanna and I went to breakfast at Pine State Biscuits.
I have been wanting to go there for a long time, and those biscuits did not disappoint!
The rest of the day was nice and quiet. I got lots of calls and messages from friends and family, and a few fun surprises. One friend gave me this beautiful flower.
I also realized that so many flowers in our yard were blooming for my birthday! I love it!
Isaac hung out with me in my room after school. He made paper airplanes with his cute tongue hanging out.
I took Grace to play practice that evening, and then we had yummy brownies and ice cream. It was a good day.
Isaac and Grace rocked their BYU gear for team spirit day. Go Cougars!
The young women had a daddy daughter activity that week.
They played all sorts of fun games.
Including a hair braiding competition.
Apparently Lee was the fastest, but not the best. He lost. That’s ok, he’s a good dad and Emma sure loves being with him.
While Lee and Emma were partying I was watching Isaac and Grace at their last day of swimming lessons for this session.
The last day is always the most fun!
The next morning Emma called me from seminary. She had locked her bag and keys in the van that she got to drive to school that day. Guess she comes by it honestly! This time Lee couldn’t rescue her and I didn’t have a car. So I had to leave Isaac and Grace at home to get ready for school, while I walked really fast to the church with an extra key. I made it in record time and then drove myself home. Don’t think Emma will do that again!
After that I went to school with Isaac and Grace for our last day of their challenge reading group. We didn’t quite finish Percy Jackson, but Mrs. Johnson let them all take the books home and keep them so they could finish it. I really enjoyed reading with this group this year. Such good, fun kids.
Isaac definitely inherited his dad’s Q-tip head. It was time for a haircut.
Good thing his dad could take care of that!
I picked up my bucket of strawberries that evening.
Good thing since we were out of jam! I made several batches and prepped several more batches to be made later. Love this cheater method!
I got a Fitbit for my birthday. Today was my first day wearing it. I was happy to see my first day totals of 16,200 steps. I had no idea how many steps I take in a day.
The next morning I went to the temple and out to lunch with the women from my family to celebrate my birthday. Always a good time! I wish I had a picture of our group this year. We ate lunch at the new Cracker Barrel.
Emma sent me this text of her and Sierra eating ice cream in class. Her teacher had left class, went to the store, and brought back ice cream. They weren’t complaining!
That afternoon I threw a School’s Almost Out Party for Isaac and Grace and their friends. We used to do this for Emma, so it was fun to resurrect the party for the twins.
Each of them got to invite three friends. Only the girls would stop long enough on the walk home for a picture!
I did get a group picture before I set them loose on the ice cream.

We played a few games after eating ice cream.
Of course Grace and Autumn were matching!
Oink, Piggy, Oink was pretty funny with this bunch of kids!
Before the parents came they went outside to blow bubbles.
I was surprised how much these big kids enjoyed those bubbles. It was the perfect way to end the party.
Early the next morning we cleaned the church.
As per tradition we got donuts afterwards.
After donuts Emma had to work so the twins and I headed down to Camp Alpine. I wanted to collect a lot of leaves that were actually from Camp Alpine that I could laminate for YW Camp. I wanted them as reminders for the young women of their own Sacred Grove experiences that they would have at camp. Isaac and Grace were great helpers in my quest for leaves.
I also knew they would have fun exploring camp. And they did! They caught a newt.
And they had a blast playing at both COPE courses.
Such a beautiful place!
I was so glad they finally got to see Camp Alpine. Now they could hardly wait for our camping trip with the Jensen’s there in September.
We also drove a little farther to Alsea Falls.
When we got home I mowed our extremely long grass. It was a horrible experience. The lawn mower kept jamming with all the grass. It took me forever! I really don’t like mowing the lawn.
The twins were much more successful picking our first raspberry harvest.
I dried all those leaves and got them laminated that night.
That was a good steps day! I was a few steps short of 20,000 before I crawled into bed, so I walked around my room and hit it on the nose before actually getting into bed at 11:11.
Lee was in Spokane all weekend. He was given the award that he had won but wasn’t able to actually accept since he didn’t go to the graduation ceremony that was in May. It was a pretty big deal and they would have given it to him at a special reception. Too bad he had already decided not to go before he found out he had won!
This was the last time they had to go to Spokane, so they took pictures with some of the other members of their group.
And one of their program coordinators.
The biggest bummer of Lee being gone that weekend was that he missed Father’s Day! I wasn’t very happy that an immersion weekend was scheduled over Father’s Day. Oh well, at least it was his last school weekend. We celebrated with my dad.
We sure love him!
The kids made a fun banner to welcome Lee home late that evening.
We certainly love him and were glad to give him Father’s Day hugs before going to bed that night!
Lee is such a good dad to these lucky kids.
