Originally Emma was going to go to Grandma Vicki's for Thanksgiving. But then all of Emma's Tuesday classes were canceled, which made it so she could possibly come home on Monday afternoon. I quickly looked for flights and we found one that was cheap enough to make a quick trip worth it. We were so excited to have her come home! We kept it a secret from the twins, so they didn't know she was coming. Emma and I figured out the best way to get to the airport via public transit and we talked it over several times. Unfortunately, she got on the wrong bus at her first stop and was going the wrong direction. She quickly realized her mistake and got going back in the right direction, but it made it so she would be late for the train that would get her to the airport on time. So I had to order an Uber for her. I watched her the whole way to the airport, it was a little worrisome for her to get in a car with a strange man! But she made it and she learned a lot in the process.
She completely surprised Isaac when he opened the door and saw her standing there. Love it!
Then we went to watch Grace at basketball practice.
Her face when she saw Emma was priceless. She was completely shocked.
It was so great.
We were all so happy to have her home!
Especially when she made us cookies. We've really missed her!
She was happy to pull out the puzzles.
Tenley came down and we really got down to business on those puzzles!
Well, they did while I made pies. My favorite part of Thanksgiving!
We had a lot of fun playing Nine Square on Thanksgiving. It especially kept everybody happy while waiting for the feast to begin.
Grandpa carved Pam's delicious turkey.
And we were finally ready to eat.
Then they were right back to Nine Square before taking another break for pie.
And games!
Things weren't looking good for Joan in our annual Phase 10 tournament.
It didn't end well for her either. I won!!
It was a great day, and we made it home in time to work on MORE puzzles!
Our Thankful Tree was full of leaves this year. We have so much to be thankful for.
I am especially thankful for pie for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving. Yum!
And the puzzles kept going.
We got the tree out the day after Thanksgiving. We didn't get to decorate before Emma went back, but at least it was out and ready.
We visited the new dahlia wall in town. It made the perfect backdrop for family pictures. I love our little family! It was so nice to be all together again this week.
After taking pictures we went to an escape room.
It was Christmas themed and we loved it! It was so much fun. We solved all the puzzles but got stuck on the last thing right at the end, so we didn't escape in time. We were so close though.
We'll definitely be doing that again!
We went to Granny and Grandpa's house after that to decorate our gingerbread house. Isaac and Grace took it over this year.
It turned out cute!
Emma had to go back to Provo on Saturday. We were so sad to see her leave again, what a great week we had. She and I had a Powells and Salt & Straw date on the way to the airport. We weren't sad about that part!
Isaac and Grace were kind of sad about it though, they weren't happy to see that ice cream picture while they were at a baptism with Lee.
The rest of the day was dedicated to yard work and prepping the house for Christmas.
Emma had a much more successful trip back to her dorm. She made all her train and bus connections and felt much more confident about it. I was happy to get this picture.
We got the trees decorated on Sunday, well some of us did!
What a good, fantastic week.
