We Had a SUPER Halloween

Isaac said that our family is super and that is why we had to be super heroes for Halloween. 

I tend to agree, we have a super family.  So, I introduce our family of super heroes.

We dressed up as a family for our ward’s Trunk or Treat.  We had fun at the party eating food and playing games.

And of course trunk or treating!

It was so fun dressing up together as a family.  This was probably the last year though, Isaac and Grace already know what they want to be next year and I don’t think they will go well together.  Sigh.  Our Halloween was a little less busy this year without the haunted house.  It was also kind of sad without it!  We had tons of people asking about it and they were bummed to hear that Lee and Peter were just too busy.  Maybe next year…or the next.  It was nice to not be so crazy on Halloween day though.  We had such a good time.  Isaac and Grace are at a great age to enjoy the holiday.  They got a head start on getting candy when we went on our Meals on Wheels route.  The people we deliver to were thrilled to see Isaac in costume (Grace refused to wear hers at the last minute which was just fine because she was harder to get in and out of the car in the pouring rain in her costume) and most of them had treats and goodies waiting for both of them.

They were beyond excited about going trick or treating and asked all day when we were going to start.  I made them eat dinner first. This year we added the Franken-platter to our traditional jack-o-lantern pizza.

When it was actually time to go trick-or-treating we had a Halloween miracle.  It stopped raining!  It was actually a pleasant night to be out.

After we took pictures we only saw Emma in passing as she went off with friends. 

It was so fun to be with Isaac and Grace.  They were so in to the trick-or-treating and were thrilled with every piece of candy they got.  It was hilarious to watch them discuss who should knock on the door of spooky houses.  Isaac was a little wimpy so Gracie usually got to be the brave one. 

Once we got home the trading and counting began.

It really was a SUPER Halloween!

We Have a Teenager!!

It’s official, we have a teenager in the house! 

We celebrated our Emma Mae the day before her birthday with her traditional Halloween themed dinner.  This year she chose Creepy Coffins (meat pies) instead of her usual Chunky Brain Matter (potato soup).

Emma’s cake turned out so cute and sophisticated this year. 

Definitely the easiest cake I have done lately!

She sure had a lot of candles on that cake!

She managed to blow them all out though.

She really wanted this zebra striped cake, but I got too thick of a cake mix.  We’ll try it again next year.  Instead we had to make do with a tie dye cake.

She had fun opening her presents, she got some good ones!

We couldn’t let her actual birthday the next day go without more celebrating.  She had a donut for breakfast before school and she took some for the girls she carpools with.

Later I kidnapped her from school for lunch.  That was a fun treat for both of us! 

I really enjoy spending time with Emma.

Good thing I stole her away during the day because she had a busy afternoon and evening.  She had play practice right after school and then came home just long enough to change her clothes for soccer practice.  I guess we better get used to that as she gets older.  We are actually excited to have a teenager, especially this one.  She is such a good girl and is so fun to have around.  She is growing into a beautiful young woman who we are proud of.  We look forward to more fun years as we get to interact and relate in new ways.  We love you Emma Mae!

What do you and your mom do together?:  read books

What do you and your dad do together?:  do video games  (he has played video games with Lee once!)

Our Isaac boy cracks us up.

He always has a story to tell.  Quite often they are long and drawn out and involve a lot of hand gestures, but they make us laugh. 

He loves to play superheroes, Legos, and cars.  He has all of a sudden decided that he likes to color and has been doing a lot of that with Gracie.  He also likes to have two types of cereal in his bowl.

He gives the best hugs and several times a day I hear “mom, I love you”.  He knows his scripture stories and has a great sense of style.

What is your least favorite thing to eat?:  coffee because it is yucky & not healthy (pretty sure she has never tried it!)

What are you really good at?:  staying in my bed when I am sleeping

What is your favorite movie?:  Superheroes (they just watched a Spiderman and His Friends episode from the 80’s, made a big impression on both of them!)

What is your favorite color?: pink & purple

Who is your best friend?:  all of my friends

Gracie Lu Lu keeps us on our toes.  She is all girl and loves to dress up, play with her babies and her Polly Pockets.  She can also play superheroes and Legos with Isaac, she is versatile!

She loves books and has a stack on her bed just like Emma used to.  She even plays librarian.

Grace is our little artist.  She is constantly creating, whether it be drawing, coloring, or building things out of paper and tape.  She loves to make notes for us in seal them in envelopes.  She will craft us out of tape and envelopes very soon!

Grace is so good at sharing (when she wants to) and she gave other people most of her Halloween candy.  She has the biggest, best smile.  Her voice is so sweet and she loves to sing.  She also doesn’t like to get dressed in the morning and would stay in her pajamas all day if we let her!  She often tells me that she and Isaac can’t be my babies forever but that they will always love me.  We love you Gracie!

We are so glad these two are in our family.  We know they came together for a reason.  We love how they refer to themselves as “us” and “we” even if they are by themselves.  They truly have a special bond.

Happy Birthday Isaac & Grace!

It is so hard to believe that Isaac and Grace are 4!  We had a great day celebrating them.  It started with balloons in the family room, 4 donut holes for breakfast, and a quick present before church.

Grace got a new skirt and shirt and I made Isaac a tie so they got to wear them to church.  Not only was it their birthday, but it was also the Primary Program that day.  They were so cute and fun to watch.  They performed their parts well I could never get tired of hearing Grace say “consequence” and they sang all the songs.  They also made us laugh.  I love the Primary Program!

They could hardly wait for their party that night. 

Isaac was nice enough to help Grace blow out her candles when she couldn’t quite get them all done herself.

Oh boy were they spoiled by lots of people.  We were so glad that Grandma Dorothy, my family, and La La could celebrate with us. 

Isaac and Grace were especially happy to go to sleep that night on new sheets on their new beds.

A few days later Isaac and Grace were thrilled to get packages from Grandma Vicki, Grandpa Harold and Aunt LoLo. 

The coloring bags are darling and they have gotten a lot of use already.

We had so much fun celebrating our 4 year olds!!  One of us may have had  a little too much fun…I will end with one parting shot.
