Spring Break in Arizona-Egg hunt, Riverview Park, Razor, FroYo & On the Road Again

March 25-27, 2016

We had planned to drive home on Friday so we would be home on Saturday night, in time to celebrate Easter on Sunday.  We were having such a great time with family though that we decided to stay another day.  That meant that the twins got to go to Kristin’s ward breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt.  They weren’t too bummed about that!

After that we went to Riverview Park in Mesa.  We had gone to that park the last time we were in Arizona and the kids loved it so they were excited to go again.  It is a great playground!  Unfortunately the park is right next to the spring training baseball fields.  There were games going while we there so the parking was terrible, not to mention the traffic when we were ready to go home!

My kids are not climbers so they were content to fool around at the bottom, but Kristin’s kids were up and down that thing multiple times.

The kids didn’t last very long in the splash pad for some reason.  I guess temps in the 90’s in March is just not warm enough yet…

Kristin had to leave the park before we did.  When we got back to our parking spots we found the remnants of her lunch.  It was funny and we sent her a picture asking if she still wanted her dishes.

In the meantime, Lee and Emma were with the Leptich’s.  Emma and Ashley were enjoying pool time, while Lee was with Matt and Tyler on the Razor.

Once we were all back at Kristin’s house we soaked up every last minute with cousins before we had to leave the next morning.

After a yummy taco dinner we went out for some frozen yogurt.

The next morning we were on the road again.  It was so sad to leave. We really had a nice, enjoyable and relaxing stay with Kristin and her family.  But, it was time to get home and we were anxious to be there.  We drove through Utah this time. It was cool to listen to the General Conference Women’s session while we drove through Salt Lake.  We stopped in Brigham City and met Matt’s parents, who happened to be vacationing in Utah, at their favorite restaurant.  Maddox was yummy, the rolls and raspberry butter were to die for, and we enjoyed the company.  The pie that these guys shared for dessert was especially yummy!

That trip home was a little crazy as we went from hot temperatures in Arizona and southern Utah, to snow in northern Utah!  We stopped that night in Idaho Falls.  We were tired and definitely ready for bed.

The next day Emma drove for a couple hours.  She did great, but I was nervous the whole time!  We listened to Easter talks and Easter music all day.  It was actually very nice and a good way to focus on the Savior on Easter Sunday.  We missed being at church, but we heard some good stuff.

We knew we were close to home when we hit torrential rain in the gorge.  Welcome to Oregon!

Usually the Easter Bunny comes to our house on the Saturday before Easter.  We were planning to get home on Saturday, so the Easter bunny had thought ahead and had everything prepared.  The kids were a little concerned that we missed it, but we assured them that it would all still be  waiting for them to find when we got there.  It was!  We had the quickest Easter hunt ever!

Can you tell that we had been in the car for two days??

We missed having Easter dinner that night, but we were so happy to be home and in our own beds that it wasn’t so bad!  Our Spring Break was wonderful, too bad real life had to start again the next day!

Spring Break in Arizona-Easter eggs, Top Golf & Easter Pageant

March 24, 2016

On Thursday Lee and Emma went on the Razor with the Leptich’s.  They had a great time while the rest of us relaxed and played at Kristin’s.

We ended up with some pretty great eggs!

That afternoon we went to Top Golf.  It was fun and we look forward to Top Golf opening in Oregon soon.

Uncle Darcy gave some good pointers.

Lee and Emma eventually met us there.  They were totally filthy from their day on the Razor, but they were happy!

That evening we went to Mesa for the Easter pageant on the temple grounds.  Lee and Emma cleaned up nicely.

We got there early to get decent seats so we had a picnic pizza dinner.

The sunset was beautiful!

The Mesa Temple grounds are absolutely gorgeous.  Emma, Ashley, Grace and I walked around and took some pictures.  We also went through the visitor’s center.  They had a wonderful focus on Jesus Christ for the Easter season.

The pageant was good, if a little cheesy. I liked being reminded of the Easter story and Isaac and Grace liked it and were reverant and respectful.  Before the pageant the characters walk around the audience.  Charlotte got to pet a real sheep!

After the pageant we met the Leptich’s at BoSa for some delicious donuts.  It was the perfect way to end a great day!
