Halloween

I got to help in the twins’ class for their Halloween party. 

Mrs. Johnson plans the best parties with fun activities.  Joo Lin and I manned the Frankenstein magnets station (I had painted all those sticks beforehand). 

After school I took them to trick or treat around downtown Canby.

That night we had mummy dogs, Cheetos and root beer, along with broccoli brains and pineapple pumpkin teeth for a simple Halloween dinner. 

Lee had clinicals that day and he was kept late, so we had to start trick or treating without him.  We usually go with friends, but this year it was just us.  It was still just as fun and actually quite relaxing.  We loved seeing friends out and about and it was a nice night. 

Lee eventually caught up with us and we enjoyed it even more with him.  I really like trick or treating.  I love the excitement and seeing so many people outside. 

Our last stop was our own house to trick or treat to Emma who stayed home to pass out candy.  Too bad our candy was all out by then! 

Isaac and Grace certainly didn’t need any more candy though, they got plenty!

Let the big candy exchange (and the parent tax) begin!

It was a nice, low-key Halloween.  Next year will probably not be the same.  Lee and Peter are already excited for and planning the haunted house for next year, when they will be DONE with school!

Emma Turns 17!!

October 29-30, 2016

Seventeen sounds old.  I’m pretty sure we are not old enough to have a seventeen year old.  Apparently we are because Emma is now seventeen.  Crazy. 

Her birthday fell on a Saturday, and she was scheduled to work pretty much the entire day.  Welcome to the nearly-adult world!  :)  We celebrated with the traditional birthday breakfast donut though, and she took treats to the pool to share with her co-workers.  Grace couldn’t wait to give her the gift that she had bought for her. 

She gave her the cutest elephant earrings, and she bought herself her own  set so they could match. 

So cute!

We celebrated Emma’s birthday the nex day.

Of course we had a Halloween dinner.  Every week Emma asks for meat pies for dinner.  Every week I tell her it’s not her birthday.  Her once-a-year chance for meat pies finally came, they make the perfect creepy coffins!

It was a yummy dinner!

She wanted a purple ombre cake this year.  She got it. 

She also got some good gifts.

Isaac and Grace gave her the elephant she has been wanting for her room.

She was pretty excited about that!

Kaitlin gave her a super cute elephant necklace.  Are you seeing a theme?

We sure love our beautiful, good, hard working, fun, book loving, Pinterest loving Emma Mae.  We are lucky and proud to have her as our daughter. 

We also carved our pumpkins that night.

It felt like we had arrived this year.  Isaac and Grace carved most of their pumpkins on their own.  It was wonderful.

Emma got out the power tools for her pumpkin.

The pumpkins turned out great.  It was a fun night!  Thanks Emma for sharing your birthday with Halloween!

Trunk or Treat

Isaac and Grace knew exactly what they wanted to be for Halloween this year well before October came.  They chose easy and fun to put together costumes.  I loved how they turned out.  Isaac was a mad scientist which accurately reflects his interests right now.  He got costume pieces for his birthday that he will be able to use for other things as well.  Score!

He was very into character.  He must think being a mad scientist is serious business.

I think he is a handsome scientist. 

Grace was an artist, which is exactly what she wants to be when she grows up. 

We had fun working on her costume together.

Those freshly pierced ears just seemed to make the costume!

This mad scientist and pretty artist were ready to collect candy.

Their first opportunity to do just that was at the ward trunk or treat.

Thye did pretty well for themselves and had a blast.

The costume theme that Lee, Emma and I chose were very last minute and thrown together, but it worked.  We were the three blind mice, complete with cut off tails. 

Two of those blind mice must have had it out for each other.  They had a blind battle.

Emma survived and still had fun with her friends.

It was a successful and fun trunk or treat.
