T-Ball

Isaac and Grace were so excited for another season of t-ball.

They were even more excited that Kelley Rice was their coach.  They couldn’t decide though if they should call him Coach Rice, Brother Rice or Kelley though! Their team color was orange.  Kelley is a die hard Beavers fan so we were pretty convinced that he had something to do with the color of the team, but he was adamant that he didn’t.  :)

Go Orange Lions Fire Dragon Hotrods!

Lee and I both missed the first game because of stake meetings we had to be at.   Thankfully we have a teenager who could take them to the game and good friends who took pictures and texted them to us.  (And thanks to Joo Lin for taking most of the pictures in this post!)

Isaac was determined to slide this year.  He “slid” into home base almost every time.

Isaac really enjoyed playing t-ball.  He made me laugh because he insisted on wearing these baseball pants even though they were too big for him.  They didn’t have belt loops though so he was constantly adjusting his belt and pants.  Silly kid.

I love the sweet little smile Grace had on her face every time she hit the ball.  It was almost like she was apologizing to the ball.

Grace loved everything about t-ball too.

We were so lucky to not only get a good coach, but to have lots of friends on the team.  Seoul, Ryan and Adison were all on our team.  That made for happy kids!

Kelley made sure they had consecutive numbers so they could sit by each other.

Of course Lee had to add this joke: Why were 5 & 6 afraid of 7?  Because 7, 8, 9.  That number 7 is too sweet to eat anybody though!  It was a great season and we all had fun.

The best part of t-ball is that we live right by the fields.  Perfect!

Lee and Lynn were assistant coaches.  Well, kind of.  Games were on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Lee could never be there on Tuesdays because of stake meetings.  Lynn had a hard time getting there in time from work.  It usually worked out that there was at least one of them there for a game, but a few times neither of them were.  Poor Kelley had to put up with those absent assistants.  He did just fine.

I got to keep the kids in batting order on the bench.  That was quite the job at times!

At the end of the season the Rice’s hosted a party.

What a great t-ball season we had!  Isaac and Grace loved it and are looking forward to coach pitch next year.

T-Ball

T-ball season came to end at the end of June.  Isaac and Grace LOVED playing t-ball.  Isaac has wanted to play baseball for a very long time and his time finally came.

It was fun to see him progress and start to understand the game a little.

He can’t wait to play again.

T-ball 6-4-14 (1)

He did such a good job adjusting to playing with one arm.  His coach called him “One Armed Bandit”.  When he got the first cast off his coach changed his nickname to “Two Armed Bandit”.  So when he broke his arm again, it was back to the original nickname!

Grace hadn’t originally planned on playing.  At the last minute she decided she wanted to and I am so glad she did.  Our little lefty loved to play.

T-ball 6-4-14 (5)

She always had a big smile plastered on her face, especially when she ran the bases.

T-ball 6-4-14 (8)

The base coaches would always chuckle at how she talked their ears off at each base.  Usually about all sorts of things besides t-ball.

She really progressed from not knowing which way to run around the bases, or when to stop, or taking off her helmet the minute she got to first base.

She picked up the game, but I’m pretty sure she liked the social aspect of it best!

Their last game was while I was at youth conference, I was sad to miss it.  We also didn’t get the emails about the party that was after the last game, so Lee had to scramble to get them there and he didn’t take any pictures.  They were totally excited to get their own baseballs signed by their coach.  Good idea, one less trophy!

It was a good season.  Fun for the twins, and fun for us to watch.
