Poor Grandma Vicki and Aunt LoLo had to witness our sad Sunday, so on Monday we decided to do something LoLo would like to do. We went bowling.
Lee tried to teach Grace some of his good form.
Didn’t do either of them much good because look at that score! I won! I don’t think I have ever beat Lee before. Good day!
More salt gun fun. It was going to be hard to give that back to the Gibb’s!
Lee and the kids washed Grandma Vicki’s car.
On Tuesday we heard that the class lists were up at the school. Isaac and Grace got Mrs. Cortez. They didn’t have a huge opinion this year about which teacher they wanted, we didn’t really know either of them. Grace was bummed that Seoul and Emma were both in the other class, but Isaac was happy to have his friends George and Tyce in their class. I was just glad Isaac and Grace were in the same class for one last year.
Lee got his official diploma in the mail. We had to laugh that it was stuffed in our mailbox. Never mind the DO NOT BEND note on it.
Guess he will have to live with a bent diploma! It’s ok just as long as it says he is a Masters of Nursing!
That night Makenzie Abbot and Annie & Adam Boyce came over for a visit. We were sad that Makenzie and Annie’s dad had just passed away, but we were happy to have them in our home. We roasted marshmallows and played a crazy game of Wackee Six.
The next day Emma had a training at work and then she taught lessons. Janell sent me these pictures of her at work. I love seeing her in her element!
Wednesday night was my first presidency meeting with our new Canby 3rd Ward Primary Presidency. I was so happy that I got the counselors I wanted. Sarah Burgon was 1st counselor (Yay! The Burgon’s are in our new ward!), Rachael Lever was 2nd counselor, and Angela Roses secretary. I knew Sarah of course, but didn’t know Rachael or Angela at all. I just really felt that they were supposed to be in the presidency. We had a good first meeting and got some things planned so our first Sunday wouldn’t be too chaotic. I had already been asking people to teach the classes. There was a lot to do! We were off to a good start. Grandma Vicki and Aunt Lora had to leave on Thursday. They said goodbye to Emma first as she had an early morning yearbook meeting at the school.
Then they said goodbye to the rest of us. We were glad to have them here with us to celebrate Lee’s graduation.
I went to Jim Abbott’s funeral later that morning, and then in the afternoon we went to the meet and greet at the school.
It was nice to meet Mrs. Cortez and to see their new classroom. Grace was especially happy to learn that Mrs. Cortez was a fellow lefty. She had left handed scissors!
Right after the meet and greet we headed down to Camp Alpine to camp with the Jensen’s. Isaac and Grace had been looking forward to this ALL summer long. They were excited out of their minds! We were so sad that Emma couldn’t come. She had to work that weekend and had taken too much time off already throughout the summer. We were starting to get used to her not being with us since she is busy, but it was still sad. However, we were very excited to be camping in a favorite place with the twins. I already love Camp Alpine, so it was going to be fun to see Isaac and Grace fall in love also. Even better to have their good friends there to explore with! It was a really great camping trip.

The Jensen’s friends, the Tucker’s, were with us as well. We enjoyed getting to know them. Their oldest son, Ryan, was the same age as Isaac and Ryan Jensen and the three of them got along so well. They had such a good time together.
The zipline was a huge hit!!

It was so great that we could use all the amenities. The pond and zipline, archery, COPE courses, even the ziplines. So fun!
Don’t look too close at my feet. I forgot one very important thing for this camping trip… my own tennis shoes! I hate for my feet to be dusty and dirty, so I quite often wore socks with my flip flops. Ugh.
After we packed up camp we made a little side trip to Alsea Falls.
I knew Isaac and Grace would love camping at Camp Alpine, and they did! Now I love that place even more, so many wonderful memories. We will be back to camp there as a family for sure! The only problem with the camping trip was that I was a little stressed about Primary in our new ward the next day. I had that on my mind quite a bit. Sunday morning I found myself driving to the first Canby 3rd Ward Council. It was a little surreal to be going to a completely different ward in a completely different building. The one consolation to that long drive is that it is a beautiful drive. The red sun from all the forest fires in the area made it even more striking. I was nervous on that drive, nervous that Primary would go well and nervous for my kids who were sad to be going to a new ward.
But of course, it all went well. Primary wasn’t chaotic and we were able to get the kids where they needed to be (for the most part). We felt the spirit in our small but mighty ward. We were confident that we would grow to love this ward and everybody in it. Actually, we already knew most of the people and we were happy to be there with them. We will definitely miss Canby 2nd Ward, but now we have an opportunity to make even more friends. That night we got out the first puzzle of the fall season. My favorite time of year!
It was hard to believe that summer was over and school was starting in just a few days. On to another school year!
