March 18-21, 2016
We headed to sunny Arizona for spring break. Oregon gave us a gorgeous goodbye when we set out on Friday morning.
Granny traveled with us, and we caravanned down with the Leptich’s. We decided a stop for lunch at In-N-Out in Medford was a must.
We stayed in Bakersfield, CA that night. The next morning we started off with palm tree selfies.
By the time we made it to Gilbert we were all ready to be done. Of course about 15 minutes from Kristin’s house we had this:

Emma went with the Leptich’s that night to their house. Emma and Ashley wasted no time getting into the pool.
The rest of us were happy to see Kristin’s family. Unfortunately Kristin and Darcy had been very sick before we came. Darcy was doing better when we got there, but Kristin was still not feeling well at all. She had made soup for us for dinner and we teased that it was flu stew or poop soup (since she felt like poop). She was so nice to make it for us! That didn’t stop the kids from being happy to see each other, is there anything better than cousin time? They didn’t waste any time and got into the pool right away and then settled down to watch a movie together.
The next day we went to church and just relaxed around the house. Lee provided a mustache tatoo parlor for the kids. I can’t remember why…
That evening Lee and I went to the Leptich’s to pick up Emma. We had a very nice evening with them sitting outside around their pool. Later they introduced us to some hilarious Brian Regan videos.
Monday morning Kristin took us to Snooze for breakfast. Her kids were all in school and Darcy was at work. Bummer. But breafast was super yummy!
Lee and I then took Isaac and Grace to see the temple. It was the Monday before Easter which was when Christ cleansed the temple, so it was appropriate to be on the beautiful Gilbert Temple grounds.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and playing. The little kids got in the pool, but the water was still a little cold to spend too much time in there. Emma took a bunch of weird pictures with my phone.
That night we hit up the Waffle Crush truck on our way to a night hike in the San Tan mountains for FHE. Kristin, Emma and Charlotte were all sporting pink shirts.
Those waffles are so good!
The night hike was so fun. It was much cooler in the evening and it the silhouettes of cactus were so pretty.
Grace is not a huge fan of hiking. But she made it with a lot of encouragement from me and Lee.
It was a fun night. Our trip was off to a good start!
