May 8-14, 2017

Re-entry to regular life was hard, especially with a busy week ahead.  But we had a nice and relaxing FHE on Monday night.  We went for a walk in beautiful weather and then watched a movie on the new projector that Lee set up in the playroom. 

Sure love spending time with my family!

The rest of the week was full with Camp Mom and YCL meetings (that always stress me out), doctor appointments, helping at school, parent-teacher conferences, and all the regular weekly stuff.  Good thing I have this boy to make me smile.

On Thursday night I went with some friends to dinner at Costa Vida for a girls night out.  I felt a little bad for doing that so soon after my weekend away, but Lee encouraged me to go, so I did.  And I had a great time with friends.  Love these ladies!  We closed down Costa Vida and the manager was nice enough to give us free desserts.

Friday night Lee and Isaac went on the father & son campout.  Isaac could barely contain his excitement.

They stayed at a lodge this year.  Good thing too because it poured rain that weekend. 

While the boys were having fun the girls were having fun too.  I took Grace to see the middle school production of The Little Mermaid.  We met some friends there which made it extra fun.

We hung out with Emma when we got home.

Grace slept with me in my bed that night.  When I went to bed she had pratically taken over the whole thing!  I barely had any room.

The next morning at the father & son campout the boys played on the mats they used for beds.  Glad I wasn’t there.  Gross.

The highlight of the campout for Isaac was fishing.  It rained the entire time, but he loved it.

Jess Doman offered $20 to the first person to catch a fish.  Lee was the first and only person to catch a fish!  It was a little one, but Jess insisted on giving him the $20. 

While they were getting wet camping and fishing, the girls and I were getting wet at the Gator Grinder.  Team LEAD was at it again this year. 

 

Emma did the swim, of course.

She was out of that water pretty fast to give Djeryd the handoff for the bike ride.

  The rain didn’t bother her!

Then Djeryd gave Lauryn the go ahead for the run, and she was off.

She came in fast.

Team LEAD did great, even if they were really wet!  Emma stayed at the pool to work while Grace and I walked home in the POURING rain.  It was a wet morning for sure.

The next day was Mother’s Day.  Lee and the kids made me a delicious breakfast in bed.

And they showered me with presents.  My favorites are the homemade variety. 

Isaac did some indexing after breakfast, which makes my mother heart happy.

Oh how I love being the mom to these three.  How lucky did I get?

And how lucky did I get in the mom and grandma department myself??  We celebrated Mom and Grandma Dorothy with dinner at Grandma’s house.

Uncle Kenny and Aunt Patty were there too.

Oh man, did I say I was lucky??  ;)

Yes, I pam retty lucky to have my mom as my mom.  I love her.

It was a good Mother’s Day!

Mom’s Day Off

One of my Christmas presents from Lee was a day off.  I wanted a day at home where I could do anything I wanted without interruption.  Lee kept trying to give me options of places I could go, but I really just wanted to be home.  So, he took the kids to the coast for the day while I stayed home in a quiet house.  They drove up to Astoria on a beautiful, blue sky day.   Their first stop was the Astoria Column.

They got glider planes, hiked up all the stairs, looked at the beautiful view at the top, and launched their planes. 

Astoria is such a pretty place.

Lee had planned on taking a ride on the trolley along the waterfront next.  Unfortunately, although the city website had been very helpful with departure times and dates the trolley was running, it failed to mention that it was completely closed for repairs for a couple months.  Boo.  The kids were bummed but they walked around the water and looked at the boats instead.

 

Their next stop was Ft. Clatsop. 

Lee said that Isaac and Grace loved working on the Junior Ranger workbooks.  It’s pretty obvious that Emma wasn’t as impressed.

On the way home they stopped for dinner at Camp 18. 

Meanwhile, I got a pedicure (part of the present from Lee, he really had a hard time with the thought of me just staying home!) and thoroughly enjoyed my quiet time at home. 

I had a few projects to choose from to conquer on my “day off”, but I decided to get caught up on the blog.  It was wonderful.  I felt productive doing something I wanted to do and I didn’t have to stop to make lunch or dinner, to drive anybody anywhere, to break up fights, or to play Legos or Polly Pockets.  Don’t get me wrong, I love doing all those things for my family, but it’s nice to have a break.  Lee even took the day one step further.  He dropped the kids off at Granny and Grandpa’s house to spend the night.  They were thrilled and Lee and I got a quiet evening.  We made homemade peppermint milkshakes and watched a movie.  The next morning we slept in and went to the temple before picking up the crew.  I was so happy to see those kiddos of mine and to hear all about their day with their Dad.  I love them and I love being their mom.  I love Lee for listening to me and giving me what I wanted and needed.  I felt recharged after my day off!
